Navigation & Infotainment Services

Data protection information

Real-time Traffic Information

Using the "real-time traffic information" service in your vehicle's navigation system and a wireless connection you can call up real-time data for the current traffic situation.

When the service is selected the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system of your vehicle initially logs into our system using the vehicle identification number. We require this information to assign your vehicle to your user account and to be able to check its authorisation to use the service.

The provision of real-time traffic information is done by an external service provider that exchanges direct movement and traffic information with the PCM of your vehicle. Please be aware that the servers of the service provider on which data is processed as part of the service may be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Community. So that a connection can be made to your PCM a time limited authorisation key is exchanged between the servers of the service provider and your PCM. However, Porsche does not transmit any information to external service providers that can be traced back to your person (e.g. name, Porsche ID or vehicle identification number).

Once a connection is made your current vehicle position, any active route planning and your current speed and driving direction will be transferred to the server of the service provider. Using the vehicle position and the active route the service provider determines traffic information for areas relevant to the trip area and transmits this to your navigation system. Your vehicle position and current speed and driving direction can be saved by the service provider and later used for improving the service and to generate real-time traffic data.

Porsche has no access to the movement and traffic information exchanged as it is exclusively between your navigation system and the service provider.

More information about data privacy at Porsche Connect can be found in our Data Privacy Declaration.

Online Map Update

Using the "Online map update" service you can update the maps in the navigation system of your vehicle using a wireless connection.

When you log on to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) of your vehicle, the identification number of your vehicle is transmitted to our system. We require this information to assign your vehicle to your user account and to be able to check its authorisation to use the service.

The provision and transmission of the map material is done by the server of an external service provider. Please be aware that the servers of the service provider on which data is processed as part of the service may be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Community. So that a connection can be made to your vehicle an anonymous authorisation key is exchanged between the servers of the service provider and the PCM in your vehicle. However, Porsche does not transmit any information to external service providers that can be traced back to your person (e.g. name, Porsche ID or vehicle identification number).

Each time the vehicle is started the service provider server requests the current map version used by your navigation system to check whether new map materials are available. If new map material is available this is transmitted directly from the external service provider servers to your navigation system and this procedure is documented in our system.

More information about data privacy at Porsche Connect can be found in our Data Privacy Declaration.

Online Search

Using the "Online search" service you can perform online searches in your vehicle using a wireless connection. In addition by using a location you receive information about parking spaces in your area, on your route or at your navigation destination. The availability of this information depends on the location.

When the service is selected the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system of your vehicle initially logs into our system using the vehicle identification number. We require this information to assign your vehicle to your user account and to be able to check its authorisation to use the service. To receive location related information, your current location or from a location you select (e.g. navigation destination) is also sent, depending on the request.

To perform a search and create search results we use servers of external service providers. Please be aware that the servers of the service provider on which data is processed as part of the service may be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Community. To be able to provide location related information for a specific travel destination, the position of your vehicle will also be transmitted to the service provider in addition to the search terms. So that your request can be assigned, an anonymous authorisation key will also be exchanged with the servers of the service provider. However, Porsche does not transmit any information to external service providers that can be traced back to your person (e.g. name, Porsche ID or vehicle identification number).

The service provider determines the corresponding search results based on the requested search terms and position information. The information is then assigned to your vehicle and forwarded to the PCM.

The location and position data used for your request are completely deleted from our system after the process has ended.

News

The News service allows you to read your personally chosen news in the vehicle or to have the news read out by the Voice Pilot. During the setup process, you can search for news channels of your choice directly in PCM and subscribe to or link the service to your account in order to import channels already subscribed. It is also possible to search for articles or channels in the subscribed news feeds. If you use feeds, you have the option of saving articles for "Read later".

When you select the service in your vehicle, the PCM initially logs into our system using the vehicle identification number.

So that a connection can be established where necessary between your account with a third-party provider (e.g. Feedly) and your news services, PAG is given access to your third-party account and the accounts are linked with each other.

A time-limited authentication key is generated so that a connection can be established between the servers of the service provider and the PCM (Porsche Communication Management) of your vehicle.

We require this information from you to check the rights for use of the service. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

In addition, we also use this information together with the time at which the service was accessed (timestamp) for the purpose of creating a database for anonymised usage statistics. We store the information for a period of 12 months for this purpose. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in improving our service offering.

In order to display your news, stored articles and news are transmitted to us after login with the Porsche ID. The transmitted data is used to display your personalised news in the PCM where you can read it or listen to it. Your data is stored for this purpose until you delete it manually. The legal basis for this is the contract concluded with you.

For creation and provision of news feeds, we use service providers who are commissioned by Porsche. Please note that the servers of the service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service may also be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of the PCM in your vehicle. There is also the option of deactivating the service as part of the whole service group.

The functionality of the service may be limited or no longer available after performing general deactivation in the system settings.

Weather

Using the Weather service, it is possible to view the weather situation at the current location, the active destination or a stored favourite location. In order to use the weather favourites function, the customer must log into the service in the vehicle with their Porsche ID.

When you select the service in the vehicle, the PCM (Porsche Communication Management) initially logs into our system using your vehicle identification number.Alternatively, it is possible to use the Weather Service without logging into your account (as a guest – favourites functionality is not available).

To enable a connection to be established to your vehicle's PCM, a time-limited authentication key is exchanged between our systems and your vehicle's PCM.

We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service.

In order to access the weather at the current location, destination and favourites location, a list of cities and coordinates is transferred from your vehicle to the content provider after the connection has been established. Information about the weather at the above-mentioned locations is retrieved on the basis of the transmitted data. The list of favourites with city name and coordinates is then stored in our system under the Porsche ID. Your data will be stored in our system for this purpose and deleted when they are manually changed by you. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

In order to search for the weather at a location, the name of the respective city in transmitted from your vehicle via our system to the content provider. The city for which the search is to be performed and the GPS coordinates are transferred with the transmitted data. These results are then transferred to your vehicle in order to be displayed. Your data will not be stored or logged for this purpose. The legal basis for data processing is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

In order to display the weather at a requested location, the GPS coordinates are transferred from your vehicle to the content provider without any direct customer reference. The weather data for the GPS coordinates is requested with the transmitted data. These results are then transferred to your vehicle in order to be displayed. Your data will not be stored or logged for this purpose. The legal basis for data processing is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

We use service providers commissioned by Porsche for provision of the weather information. Please note that the servers of the service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service may also be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of the PCM in your vehicle. In addition, it is also possible there to deactivate the service as part of the overall service group "Location services or data transmission services".

The functionality of the service may be limited or no longer available after performing general deactivation in the system settings.
