Car Security Package

Data protection information

With the Car Security package, you can be notified by a Security Operation Center (SOC) and have your vehicle tracked via the Porsche Vehicle Tracking System installed in the vehicle in the event of theft (unauthorised vehicle movement, tampering, alarm). In addition, you can also initiate tracking by the responsible authorities.

The following data is requested and stored as part of purchase and activation of the service:

  • Contact details (including phone number)

  • Security question for verification in the event of vehicle theft

  • Vehicle colour

  • Registration number

  • For PVTS Plus: ID of the taught-in driver card

We require this information to provide you with the service, identify your vehicle and notify you. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

When this service is active, your vehicle's wireless interface for vehicle-related services initially logs into our system with the vehicle identification number.

To enable a connection to be established between the SOC and the required systems in order to display the location, a time-limited authentication key is exchanged between the servers of the service providers and your device.

We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

In addition, we also use this information together with the time at which the service was accessed (timestamp) for the purpose of creating a database for anonymised usage statistics. We store the information for a period of 12 months for this purpose. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in improving our service offering.

In order to perform tracking in the event of theft, cyclical messages that contain your

  • vehicle location, including GSM cell information, speed

  • vehicle data on ignition and engine status

  • remaining range, mileage,

  • battery voltage or fuel level where applicable

  • GSM/GPS antenna system status

are transmitted from your vehicle to the SOC when theft is detected.

The SOC then contacts you via the stored telephone numbers. In the event of theft confirmation, the circumstances of the theft and position data are provided to the responsible authorities for further action. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

In order to guarantee the functional capability of the system, there is a monthly cyclical function check in the form of a health check. For this purpose, a tracking message is sent from your vehicle to the servers of the service provider. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

For tracking your vehicle and recovery in the event of theft, we use service providers who are commissioned by Porsche. Please note that the servers of the service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service may also be located outside Canada, the European Union or the European Economic Area.

Permanent overall system deactivation is not possible in order to not restrict the functionality of the system (vehicle tracking in the event of theft).

However, you have the possibility temporarily deactivating individual alarm trigger reasons in the My Porsche App or My Porsche.
