Navigation & Infotainment Package

Data protection information

Navigation Plus

The "Navigation Plus" service enables you to use your Porsche App or your vehicle's mobile phone connection to

retrieve current or forecast navigation and traffic information along your route based on your previous destinations,

use real-time traffic information to display the current traffic situation on your route (real-time traffic),

add current satellite aerial photos to your navigation map (satellite map), or

update your navigation map incrementally on the basis of your current location and active route guidance (online map update).

In addition, you can also use the "Navigation" sub-function seamlessly across all output devices.

For the "Navigation" sub-function, you can select, enter and save destinations in the My Porsche App in your vehicle's PCM. These destinations are synchronised between your vehicle's PCM and the Porsche App when you pair your device.

When you select the service in your vehicle, PCM (Porsche Communication Management, the central control unit for audio, navigation and communication services) initially registers with our system using the vehicle identification number.

If you select the service via the My Porsche App, you register with your Porsche ID.

We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

After the connection has been established, to determine the information you requested, depending on the sub-function;

for navigation, the current location, the current speed, the current direction of travel and, where applicable, active or forecast navigation destinations and the associated route guidance,

for real-time traffic, the current location, the current speed and the current direction of travel

for satellite maps, your current map section based on the location of your vehicle and, if applicable, the other map sections along your route,

from the PCM of your vehicle directly to the servers of the service providers.

The data transmitted is used to determine the information you have requested. The information is then assigned to your vehicle by our system and transferred to your vehicle's PCM.

Your data will be stored for the duration of the query for this purpose and will then be deleted. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

If you use the My Porsche App for the request, the location of your device will be used instead of your vehicle location and the search results will be transferred to the My Porsche App.

For the Online Map Update sub-function, the servers of the service providers establish the map version currently used by your navigation system and the region to be updated, and check whether any new map material is available. If new map material is available this is incrementally transmitted directly from the external service provider servers to your navigation system.

The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

In addition, the aforementioned information transmitted from your vehicle to service provider without any personal information can be used to improve the service or contribute to the services database. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in improving our service.

We use service providers commissioned by Porsche to provide the sub-functions of Navigation Plus. Please note that the servers of the service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service may also be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

Activating private mode means that the online functionalities of the service are no longer available.

Voice Pilot

With the "Voice Pilot" service, you can make voice input in your vehicle via wireless network connection, or have the voice input converted into text and thus control services and apps, search for and enter destinations, or dictate messages by voice dialog, among other things. By using location information, voice input to destinations can be checked for plausibility and the quality of voice input can be improved. In addition, you can use the function to have messages and other information read aloud.

When selecting the service in your vehicle, the PCM (Porsche Communication Management = central control unit for audio, navigation and communication) of your vehicle first logs on to our system with the vehicle identification number. We need this information to be able to assign your vehicle to your user account and to check its authorization to use the service. As a database for creating anonymized usage statistics, we store the service call in connection with your vehicle identification number and a time stamp for a period of 12 months.

We use service providers commissioned by Porsche to carry out and provide the service. Please note that servers of the service providers on which data is processed as part of the service may also be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

After the connection, you can make your voice input. Here, the PCM of your vehicle records an audio file and transmits it together with the selected language, possibly the selected service and current version information directly to the relevant service providers. In order to make the voice input of destinations plausible and thus improve the quality of voice input, the current position of your vehicle is transmitted, provided that you have activated the transmission of location data. To enable your request to be assigned, an authorization key is also exchanged with the servers of the service providers.

The voice conversion of the audio file will be carried out by the Porsche service provider Nuance Communications, Inc., 1 Wayside Road, Burlington, MA 01803, USA ("Nuance"). Nuance converts your audio file into a text file, interpreting it semantically if necessary, and transmitting the result back to the PCM of your vehicle. In the voice control of destination inputs, the search terms converted to text as well as the location for the purpose of determining route and destination information are also exchanged with navigation and search service providers.

Please note that the aforementioned audio and text files are stored at the service provider commissioned by Porsche for a period of 90 days.

You can prevent the transmission of audio data to Nuance by deactivating the "Online Voice Control" function in the system settings of the service in the PCM of your vehicle (Set > System Settings > Voice Control > Voice Recognition Online). By deactivating the PCM wireless module in the system settings, you can deactivate the data exchange of your vehicle's PCM via the wireless network connection. As a result, the functionality of the service may be restricted or may no longer be available.

Further information on data protection at Porsche Connect can be found in our Privacy Policy.

Finder

With the "Finder" service, you can use My Porsche, your Porsche Connect app, as well as your vehicle, to determine special destinations in your area, along your route or at your navigation destination via wireless network connection. You can also get up-to-date information about points of interest such as occupancy (parking lots), available charging stations (e-gas stations), current reviews (hotels, restaurants, attractions) and fuel prices (petrol stations), current opening hours, payment options and other information available.

When calling up the service in your vehicle, the PCM (Porsche Communication Management = central control unit for audio, navigation and communication) of your vehicle first logs on to our system with the vehicle identification number. We need this information to be able to assign your vehicle to your user account and to check its authorization to use the service. As a database for creating anonymized usage statistics, we store the service call in connection with your vehicle identification number and a time stamp for a period of 12 months. When selecting the service via My Porsche or the Porsche Connect app, you will be logged in with your Porsche ID.

We use service providers commissioned by Porsche to carry out the search and create search results. Please note that servers of the service providers on which data is processed as part of the service may also be located outside the Republic of Albania. In order to establish a connection to the PCM of your vehicle, a temporary authorization key is exchanged between our systems and the PCM of your vehicle.

Following the connection, the respective search term, the current location of your vehicle and, if applicable, your navigation destination and route are transmitted through our system directly to the respective service providers. The service providers determine the corresponding search results based on the requested search term and the location, destination and route information. Subsequently, the information is assigned by our system to your vehicle and transmitted to the PCM of your vehicle.

In order to avoid repeated requests for information from the service provider if requests by several users are identical, the search queries and content exchanged with the service providers as part of your request will be stored centrally for a period of 30 days and used for the assignment of corresponding requests and contents.

Search terms entered in the PCM of your vehicle or in your Porsche Connect app are incorporated into the in-vehicle search statistics so that recurring search terms can be made available more quickly in a pre-selection. This search statistics can be deleted by resetting to factory settings.

By deactivating the PCM radio module in the system settings, you can deactivate the data exchange of your vehicle's PCM via the wireless network connection. As a result, the functionality of the service may be restricted or may no longer be available.

Further information on data protection at Porsche Connect can be found in our Privacy Policy.

Radio Plus

The "Radio Plus" service allows you to access the integrated internet radio in your vehicle via a mobile network connection and to automatically switch between the radio sources FM/DAB/Online Radio depending on the connection quality. For the radio stations in your current station list, your favourites or short cuts, you can also retrieve information online on DAB and FM reception parameters, online stream addresses, the current country, the current system language, the respective market and a mathematical image of the currently played audio (audio fingerprint) for identification of the artist or track, for example, and stream the corresponding radio station online.

When you select the service, your vehicle's PCM (Porsche Communication Management) initially logs into our system using the vehicle identification number.

To enable a connection to be established between your device and the required systems in order to display the location, a time-limited authentication key is exchanged between the servers of the service providers and your device.

We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

In addition, we also use this information together with the time at which the service was accessed (timestamp) for the purpose of creating a database for anonymised usage statistics. We store the information for a period of 12 months for this purpose. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in improving our service offering.

In order to permit use of the above-mentioned information and the online stream, a request is transmitted from your vehicle to the service provider after the connection has been set up. Information on your current radio playback and where applicable online stream is generated with the transmitted data. The information is then transmitted to the PCM of your vehicle. The data will be stored in our system for this purpose until the next status change and will be overwritten when the status changes. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

For provision of the above-mentioned information and the online stream, we use service providers who are commissioned by Porsche. Please note that the servers of the service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service may also be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

You always have the option of deactivating the service by deactivation of the PCM wireless module. In addition, it is also possible there to deactivate the service as part of the overall service group "Individual service deactivation (Privacy Mode)".

The functionality of the service may be limited or no longer available after performing general deactivation in the system settings.

Further information on data protection at Porsche Connect can be found in our Privacy Policy.

News

The News service allows you to read your personally chosen news in the vehicle or to have the news read out by the Voice Pilot. During the setup process, you can search for news channels of your choice directly in PCM and subscribe to or link the service to your account in order to import channels already subscribed. It is also possible to search for articles or channels in the subscribed news feeds. If you use feeds, you have the option of saving articles for "Read later".

When you select the service in your vehicle, the PCM initially logs into our system using the vehicle identification number.

So that a connection can be established where necessary between your account with a third-party provider (e.g. Feedly) and your news services, PAG is given access to your third-party account and the accounts are linked with each other.

A time-limited authentication key is generated so that a connection can be established between the servers of the service provider and the PCM (Porsche Communication Management) of your vehicle.

We require this information from you to check the rights for use of the service.

In order to display your news, stored articles and news are transmitted to us after login with the Porsche ID. The transmitted data is used to display your personalised news in the PCM where you can read it or listen to it. Your data is stored for this purpose until you delete it manually. The legal basis for this is the contract concluded with you.

For creation and provision of news feeds, we use service providers who are commissioned by Porsche. Please note that the servers of the service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service may also be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of the PCM in your vehicle. There is also the option of deactivating the service as part of the whole service group.
