Breakdown Call

Data protection information

With the "Breakdown Call" service, you can initiate a breakdown call in your vehicle via the Porsche Connect app or via the PCM (Porsche Communication Management = central control unit for audio, navigation and communication). When a breakdown call is triggered, a voice connection to a call centre is established and the vehicle location and relevant vehicle information are transmitted.

When the breakdown call is triggered in your vehicle, the wireless interface for vehicle-related services of your vehicle will first log on to our system with the vehicle identification number. We need this information to be able to assign your vehicle to your user account and to check its authorization to use the service.

As a database for creating anonymized usage statistics, we store the service call in connection with your vehicle identification number and a time stamp for a period of 12 months.

We use service providers commissioned by Porsche to receive breakdown calls and to initiate assistance measures, such as hiring a towing service or road-side assistance.

After the voice connection to the call centre has been established, once you have agreed to the transmission in your vehicle's PCM, the following data recorded or stored in the vehicle will be forwarded to an internal Porsche system and can be viewed there by our service providers:

  • your vehicle type

  • your vehicle identification number

  • type of energy storage installed in your vehicle (e.g. tank)

  • time stamp

  • location of your vehicle • direction of travel

  • vehicle movement during deployment

  • type of triggering (Porsche Connect app / via PCM in the vehicle)

  • number of occupants of your vehicle

  • location of the impact (if applicable)

  • Intensity of the accident (if applicable)

  • language set in the PCM of your vehicle

  • mileage

  • distance until empty

  • charge state of starter battery

  • oil and tank level

  • maintenance intervals

  • diagnostic data of breakdown-relevant control units

  • combination alerts

  • SIM card information of the CGW: Registration Country, ICCD, INSI, Roaming Activation, Operator ID

The retrieved information is collected and processed for the purpose of initiating assistance. The data is cached on a personal basis for a period of 7 days in our systems. The language set in your vehicle's PCM is transmitted in order to communicate with the vehicle occupants in one of these languages. For the initiation of assistance measures, the above-mentioned information may be forwarded to responsible local third-party providers or to a Porsche Centre, if you expressly consent to such data transmission during the breakdown call.

By activating the private mode in the system settings of your vehicle's PCM, you can deactivate the data exchange of your vehicle via the wireless network connection. A voice connection from the vehicle can still be established after the breakdown call has been triggered.

Deactivation does not include data transmission for certain emergency services. By activating the private mode or, alternatively, by disabling the remote access in the system settings of the PCM of your vehicle, you also prevent access to information in your vehicle via My Porsche or your Porsche Connect app. As a result, the functionality of the service may be restricted or may no longer be available. You are advised to deactivate plus update account before the change of your phone and/or ownership of your vehicle. Default mode (where applicable) is not recommended as this would allow any user to have access to PCM.
