Data protection information
Smart Service
Smart Service allows you to view the current status of selected vehicle components from inside your vehicle, using the My Porsche app. You will also be notified of any upcoming maintenance or repair needs. You can also use the PCM to navigate directly to the dealer of your choice and check availability or book a service appointment in My Porsche based on the information.
When this service is active, your vehicle's wireless interface initially logs into our system with the vehicle identification number. A protocol with identifiers and identification data, analytical data, status data as well as usage and operating data is subsequently transmitted at regular intervals and when a threshold value is exceeded.
When the service is selected via My Porsche, the information transmitted to the system is made available and displayed for you to see.
We need this information to determine the technical status of the relevant components for you, and to decide on potential maintenance or repair needs, and to supply this information to you. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.
In addition, we use the technical data from your vehicle for the purpose of improving and further developing the service and our products. The legal basis for this is our justified interest in product development and improvement. For the purpose of product observation, we will retain these data for a maximum total period of 30 years after they are generated. The legal basis for retaining them is our justified interest in product observation and for preventing and asserting legal claims.
To make it easier for the dealer to provide support, the data transmitted by your vehicle can also be called up using your vehicle identification number while this data is stored by the dealer. Data may be accessed for 30 years for this purpose. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in providing a customer service.
You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of your vehicle's PCM (Porsche Communication Management = central control unit for audio, navigation and communication). There is also the option of deactivating the service as part of the whole "Services without geolocation" service group.
The functionality of the service may be limited or eliminated by performing a general deactivation in the system settings.
Further information on data protection at Porsche Connect can be found in our privacy policy.
Breakdown Call
The "Breakdown Call" service enables you to make a call from your car using the Porsche App which is received by Porsche Assistance. Using the vehicle identification number, the service enables the vehicle data to be called up and the current vehicle status to be viewed in order to assist you in the event of a breakdown. If technically supported, you can use the Live Diagnosis functionality. You can also have the data transferred to your Porsche Centre to enable the next service to be prepared.
When the breakdown call is issued via the PCM, your vehicle's wireless interface first logs into our system with the vehicle identification number and transmits a unique protocol with identifiers and identification data, usage and operating data, status data and analytical data, as well as location and movement data.
When the breakdown call is issued via the app, our system retrieves the relevant data from your vehicle. If your vehicle meets the technical requirements for using the Live Diagnosis functionality, Porsche Assistance can already provide you with advanced fault information and guidance over the telephone on the basis of the fault log for the vehicle. Porsche Assistance uses the same vehicle data for this as is transmitted when the vehicle makes a breakdown call: identification data, usage and operating data, status data, analysis data as well as location and movement data. We need this information in order to identify the possible technical causes of your breakdown on the basis of the transmitted data, to analyse possible remedies and to initiate breakdown assistance. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.
If you wish and if you consent to this as part of the breakdown call, we will transmit the information mentioned above to Porsche Assistance. In addition, we make this information available to the respective dealer provided you have consented to the transmission of data. The dealer can then use the data to assist with your service visit. We store the information for a period of 7 days for transmission purposes. The legal basis for this is your consent in the context of the breakdown call.
You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of your vehicle's PCM (Porsche Communication Management, the central control unit for audio, navigation and communication). There is also the option of deactivating the service as part of the whole "Services with geolocation" service group.
The functionality of the service may be limited or eliminated by performing a general deactivation in the system settings.

Online software update
You can use the "Online Software Update" service to retrieve and execute any updates available for your vehicle, bringing your vehicle up to date without having to visit a workshop.
The prerequisite for this is a Porsche ID and the purchase of the Connect Care package.
When this service is active, your vehicle's wireless interface initially registers with our system using its vehicle identification number and checks our system for available updates at regular intervals
We need this information in order to activate the service in the vehicle for you and to request regular updates in our systems, which are then offered to you for installation in the vehicle.
In order to provide you with updates, your vehicle will check for available updates in the backend on a regular basis. If an update is available, it is transferred to your vehicle automatically and offered to you for installation. When an update has been installed, the new software, update and version status is reported back to our systems. The legal basis for the processing described here is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

Good to know – The Driver‘s Manual
The "Good to know – Driver's Manual" service, if supported, enables you to access Owner's Manual information in your vehicle as well as via the website and the Porsche App. This information can also be viewed in the form of interactive graphics.
In the output channels mentioned, you will also be shown references to corresponding chapters of the Owner's Manual on the basis of the warning and information messages in your vehicle to enable fast access to possible information. The "Favourites" and "Most recently visited pages" features also make it easier to go straight to your bookmarked chapters.
To activate the service for the first time, you must create a usage profile. You do this by entering your name and Porsche ID in our system, whereupon your profile is created following a data comparison. You then have the option of adding further details to your profile. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you. Your profile will be deleted if it is not used for a period of one year.
When this service is called up in the vehicle, your vehicle's wireless interface for vehicle-related services initially registers with our system using its vehicle identification number.
When the service is called up via the website, registration also takes place using your vehicle identification number, which you specify on the website. We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service. We also use this information for the purpose of creating a database for anonymised usage statistics. We store the information for a period of 12 months for this purpose. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

We use service providers commissioned by Porsche for the features described above. Please note that the servers of the service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service may also be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.
In addition, we also use the above-mentioned information together with a time (timestamp) for the purpose of creating a database for anonymised user statistics.
