In your Porsche, route calculation during navigation is performed simultaneously online and via Porsche Communication Management. You get the best of both worlds. Online navigation gives you access to the latest maps while at the same time taking all relevant traffic news into account, while offline route planning via PCM is available at all times because you don't need a data connection. And best of all, PCM decides itself which navigation option offers the fastest route. You can search for your destinations in advance using the Porsche Connect App and transfer them to your Sports Car.
Whether you're on your way into the city, to a business meeting or on the way home after a successful day – real-time traffic data will help you reach your destination faster and stress-free. Roads are shown in colour in the map display according to the traffic situation – yellow for slow-moving traffic and red for a traffic jam. This means that you can see in advance how much traffic you can expect on your route and what the best alternatives are. The symbol for an active PCM online connection in the status bar lets you see at all times whether real-time traffic data is available.
Along with the normal 2D or 3D map display, satellite data can also be used to display aerial images of buildings, roads and terrain.
This allows you a clear view of your surroundings and your destination before you even arrive.
For frequently travelled routes, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) shows you alternative routes – from the fourth time you take this route and without active navigation. It's good to have a co-pilot you can always rely on. The "Smart Routing" function can be activated and deactivated in PCM under Navigation Settings/Smart Routing.
Online updates ensure that your maps are up to date at all times. To make data traffic as efficient as possible, only the changes are loaded. You can also select individual regions or countries. And, of course, you are free to decide when you want to load updates, for example only when you have a WiFi connection.
Real-time traffic information is not available in all countries. Please contact your Porsche Centre for further information on availability in your country.

Service: Navigation Plus
With the "Navigation Plus" service, you can use My Porsche, your Porsche Connect app or your vehicle via wireless network connection to:
The sub-function "Navigation" can also be used seamlessly across the output devices.
When calling up the service in your vehicle, the PCM (Porsche Communication Management = central control unit for audio, navigation and communication) of your vehicle first logs on to our system with the vehicle identification number. We need this information to be able to assign your vehicle to your user account and to check its authorization to use the service. As a database for creating anonymized usage statistics, we store the service call together with your vehicle identification number and a time stamp for a period of 12 months. When selecting the service via My Porsche or the Porsche Connect app, you will be logged in with your Porsche ID.
For the "Navigation" sub-function, you can select, enter and save destinations and routes in the PCM of your vehicle or in the Porsche Connect app. These destinations and routes are synchronized when pairing your device between the PCM of your vehicle and the Porsche Connect app. If the "Personal Routes" function is activated in your vehicle's PCM, the PCM can save your vehicle's destinations and routes and forecast possible future destinations on the basis of the preceding destinations and routes in order to determine current navigation and traffic information (personal routes) for the route to be expected.
We use service providers commissioned by Porsche to provide the sub-functions of "Navigation Plus". Please note that servers of the service providers on which data is processed as part of the service may also be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area. In order to connect to the PCM of your vehicle, a time-limited authorization key is exchanged between the servers of the service providers and the PCM of your vehicle.
After the connection has been established, depending on sub-function,
will be transferred from the PCM of your vehicle directly to the servers of the service providers. On the basis of the data provided, the service providers determine the information you require and transfer it to the PCM of your vehicle. As part of the sub-function "Online Map Update", the service providers' servers request the map version currently being used by your navigation system as well as the region to be updated every time the vehicle is started, and check whether new map material is available. If new map material is available, it will be transferred directly from the external service providers’ servers to your navigation system and this process as well as the number of updates per region and quarter will be documented in our system for the purpose of managing your available update continents.
In addition, the aforementioned information transmitted from your vehicle to service providers without your personal information or vehicle identification number can be stored by the service providers and used to improve the service or contribute to the database of the services.
By deactivating the PCM radio module in the system settings, you can deactivate the data exchange of your vehicle's PCM via the wireless network connection. As a result, the functionality of the service may be restricted or may no longer be available.
