Breakdown Call
Data protection information
The "Breakdown Call" service enables you to make a call from your car using the Porsche Connect app which is received by Porsche Assistance. Using the vehicle identification number, the service enables the vehicle data to be called up and the current vehicle status to be viewed in order to assist you in the event of a breakdown. You can also have the data transferred to your Porsche Centre to enable the next service to be prepared. When the breakdown call is issued via the PCM (Porsche Communication Management, the central control unit for audio, navigation and communication services), your vehicle's wireless interface first logs into our system with the vehicle identification number and transmits a unique protocol with identifiers and identification data, usage and operating data, status data and analytical data, as well as location and movement data.
When the breakdown call is issued via the app, our system retrieves the relevant data from your vehicle.
We need this information in order to identify the possible technical causes of your breakdown on the basis of the transmitted data, to analyse possible remedies and to initiate breakdown assistance. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.
If you wish and if you consent to this as part of the breakdown call, we will transmit the information mentioned above. In addition, we also use this information, provided you have consented to the transmission of data by telephone, for the purpose of transmission to the dealer. The dealer can then use the data to assist with your service visit. We store the information for a period of 7 days for transmission purposes. The legal basis for this is your consent in the context of the breakdown call.
We use service providers who are commissioned by Porsche to answer breakdown calls in the Porsche Assistance Call Centre. Please note that the servers of the service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service may also be located outside Canada or the European Union or the European Economic Area.
You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of your vehicle's PCM (Porsche Communication Management = central control unit for audio, navigation and communication). There is also the option of deactivating the service as part of the whole "Services with geolocation" service group. The functionality of the service may be limited or eliminated by performing a general deactivation in the system settings.
